A COMMUNITY group buying in oil for reduced rates has saved members a total of £5,000 over the last six months.
The SeSaME Oil Buying Club was set up in autumn last year and has gone form strength to strength ever since.
Club manager, Mike Parker, said membership number were growing every week.
"We are now at 110 members, mainly drawn from Sedgeberrow, Ashton Under Hill, Hinton and Aston Somerville, with others coming on board from Dumbleton and Beckford," he said.
"Each week our membership grows and we are seeing interest from across the area.
"February was our biggest ever month for orders with over 28,000 litres being delivered to our members. It was also our best saving per litre, at 5.48p versus the open market price.
"The substantial saving was partly as a result of the order size but we also benefitted from the support of two regular suppliers.
"Membership benefits are brought into focus when I hear that a local resident needed 500 litres for delivery by the end of Feb and was quoted nearly 13ppl more than our club price that month, £65 extra for the 500litres."
