I ATTENDED the Battle of Evesham 750th anniversary, and can I say what a splendid day it was.
From the parade starting in the churchyard, through the town, and down into the Abbey grounds, to the laying of a wreath at Simon de Montfort's memorial, it seemed to bring the history of that time alive.
The day continued in the same vein – falconry displays, guided walks, medieval artillery, equestrian displays, music, talks about the times, and to end that part of the day, a wonderful re-enactment of the battle.
A large pat on the back is due to all who took part, but especially to all the volunteers, in what ever capacity they were in, they made the day.
Well done, Evesham, you should be extremely proud of your history.
