YOU know Christmas is coming to Worcester when the festive tree goes up on the roundabout in St John's.

But for some readers the excitement was somewhat dulled this year when the lights seemed to illuminate only half the tree at the roundabout off New Road.

Reader Jeff Jones sent in a picture of the tree, asking whether it was a "work in progress", while others said it looked unfinished.

Worcester City Council carried out an inspection of the city's lights yesterday evening, and have since confirmed that the tree will soon be lit up in all its glory.

A city council spokesman said: "The lights on the Christmas tree in St John’s are not all on currently, because of an issue with the connections in the wiring within the tree. Because of the bad weather it has not been possible to repair them yet, but we hope to have that done within the next couple of days."

Meanwhile, readers have been lamenting the lights of 2014, saying this year's festive display in the city centre aren't as good.
