AN inquest has opened in to the death of a man who was found unconscious on a Worcestershire road.

Jason Westcott, aged 22, died on November 15 only hours after he was found on the A451 Ringway between the bus depot Island and Comberton Hill island at just after 5am.

The inquest opened yesterday, although no date has yet been set for a final hearing.

Mr Westcott lived in Kidderminster but was originally from Weston-super-Mare.

A 42-year-old from Stourport was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until January next year while investigations continue.

Sergeant Craig Harris, of West Mercia Police, said: "Jason had been living in the area for the last year having found work in Kidderminster and was out with friends.

"As you would expect, his family are absolutely devastated and are desperate for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

"Jason's injuries were consistent with him being in a collision with a vehicle but we are currently looking at the possibility that there may have been an altercation prior to the collision."

Tributes were paid to Mr Westcott following his death.

Harry Wall said: "Rest in peace Jason.

"A good lad who always sed hello, I had some laughs in school with you. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family."

Jodie Thorne tweeted: "This weekend has been so depressing. R.I.P Jason Westcott.
