EVESHAM residents are invited to an event which will be telling the story of the Bidford dancers.
The talk on the Bidford Morris Dancers and Mummers is being held from 7.30pm at Bidford Community Library on Thursday, January 19.
Bidford has a special place in national folk history, and a collection of unique dances.
The event coincides with the recent publication of a 200 page illustrated book, 'Spotlight on Bidford-on-Avon's Morris Tradition, exploring the history.
The book traces Morris activity in the area from Shakespeare's time, explaining the national importance of the 1886 revival in the village.
It also follows the national tour the team undertook, and looks at the newspapers and photographs of the time.
The evening will be providing an entertaining insight for the community into the tradition, and will also see some of the dances performed by the Shakespeare Morris Men, with the chance for members of the audience to have a go.
Original artefacts, and examples of research material, will be on display.
Everyone is invited to the event, which costs £2.50 for adults, while children go free.
Tickets are available from the Bramley Way-based library, or by emailing bagman@shakespearemorris.org.uk, or calling 07742 606299.
