BORDERS and hanging baskets will be displayed for a competition.

The Britain in Bloom judges will arrive in Evesham at 9am on Thursday July 6.

The bloom committee has announced the opening of two competitions, one for residential gardens and the other for business properties with prizes to be won.

The committee is headed by Emma Goodge, the former mayoress of Evesham, who said: "It is a privilege to be asked to take on the role and we will endeavoured to do our best to show Evesham at its best.

"We would like as many people to take part as possible taking before and after photos of the town and posting them to our Facebook page, pulling up weeds while waiting for the bus, reporting graphite, disposing of litter appropriately. "

The garden does not have to be large nor does it have for be flower beds, it could be a garden made of pots and hanging baskets.

Anyone with a beautiful or interesting floral or herbaceous display to enter, go to the Evesham in Bloom website to apply. www.eveshaminbloom.uk/entry-form/

The closing date for entries is Friday June 23.
