WYCHAVON'S Executive Board will recommend 14 new promises and a freeze to council tax for the Wychavon section of their bill.

This is what was agreed at last night’s board meeting where they considered the budget and strategy for the coming year.

Cllr. Linda Robinson, leader of Wychavon said: “We’re in a strong financial position and the board feels that by continuing with efficiencies and other income streams we can avoid financially burdening our residents with Council Tax increases this year.”

Amongst the promises are to work with partners to establish multi-sports hubs for Droitwich Spa, Evesham and Pershore, tackle social mobility in the district by holding a summit with partners including an initial fund of £30,000 - with the potential for further funding and actions.

The council also proposed a three year promise to tackle littering and use of plastics, extra support for people facing Universal Credit and those who are at risk of becoming homeless and more stretching targets and increased funding for apprenticeships.

The plans also include improving opportunities for green travel such as; car charging points and more cycle routes and installing adult changing spaces in public toilets.

Finally the council also want to promote self build and custom build properties and to do more to promote tourism and get more overnight stays in the district as well as launching a village of culture competition.

Cllr. Robinson continued: “We have a lot of exciting promises on offer for Wychavon residents for the coming year. I feel confident that we shall continue to focus our attention on the most important areas.

"We’re not only supporting those in the greatest need, but also extending areas of leisure and green travel investment which will benefit so many. The board are very happy to make these recommendations to council.”
