PARENTS will find out whether their child has been given a place at one of their preferred choices of primary school on Tuesday.
All children born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 are eligible for a September school place.
Parents should have applied by January giving their top three preferences for schools.
Applications are falling this year, following a population bulge, but 60,000 of UK children won’t get a first choice school, says The Good Schools Guide.
Parents disappointed with their allocated school may appeal.
The Guide's advice is to accept the place offered while trying to find an alternative. Contact other schools and join their waiting lists.
Try not to be negative about the school offer to your child.
However, for a successful appeal, parents must prove a mistake was made in the admissions process, that the admissions policy is unlawful or that the decision was unreasonable.
