REFURBISHING work at Drakes Broughton Post Office will see it temporally close.

The branch at 28 Shrubbery Road, Drakes Broughton, Pershore, WR10 2BA will close from Saturday May 12 at 12.30pm to Wednesday May 30 at 9am.

The work includes replacing a full-screen Post Office counter with an open-plan counter alongside the retail counter. There will be new shelving, refrigeration, flooring, ceiling, lighting, electrics and plumbing.

Karen Coles, network operations manager, said: “The safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, to allow for the refurbishment to take place it will be necessary for the service to close, temporarily.

"I am sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers during this period. However, I am sure that the planned improvements to the service will, in time, compensate for any disruption caused in the short term.”

The project is being funded by the postmaster with support by a grant from the Post Office community fund.

The Post Office grant is part of a £20million national investment scheme available to 3,000 community Post Office branches, where there is no other retailer who could operate a post office within half a mile.

Alternative branches in the area include; Peopleton Post Office at The Old Village Stores, Peopleton and Pershore Post Office in Tesco Express, High Street, Pershore.
