EVESHAM Volunteer Centre celebrates its 35th anniversary this year and to mark the occasion the centre has taken over a shop in the Riverside Shopping Centre. MP Nigel Huddlestone and the mayor and mayoress of Evesham, Mark and Emma Goodge were present to open the shop in time for Volunteers’ Week.

Helen Gray from Evesham Volunteer Centre said: "We have twelve charities who have display stands in the shop and we are hoping that others will come forward to take part.

"It is a way for people to see what is on offer and what help they can give to local organisations who play such a big part in our community."

The shop is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 2pm and advertises a variety of current roles which will be updated regularly.

Evesham Volunteer Centre has opportunities for drivers for their community car scheme which helps taking people without transport to hospital and doctors appointments and for volunteers to visit isolated older people in their own homes once a week.
