PLANS have been submitted for a new wine bar in Market Place, Evesham.
The bar, which would be called Unwined would move into a vacant former shop site between Orto Lounge and William Hill.
Steve Richford, part of Unwined Ltd, who have submitted the application said: "It will feature wines from different countries.
"It will not play loud music or anything, it would be for people to have a relaxed conversation with their partner or a group of friends.
"I hope people would see it as a nice place to go, a bit similar to Veeno in Stratford.
"It fits in with the vibe in Market Place, as a continental cafe and bar.
"There will be around 40 different gins, malt whiskey and vodka as well as other spirits.
"We want it to be a higher class wine bar."
Mr Richford also owns The Valkryie Bar which opened last year but says the new bar would cater to a different clientele.
He said: "Unwined is a totally separate business, a different company."
The opening of the bar would be another significant step in achieving the ambitions of Evesham Town Plan which aimed to regenerate Market Place in Evesham as a centre for café’s bars and restaurants with plenty of alfresco dinning.
The business would have two new permanent staff and four part-time staff.
The application to Wychavon District Council is to change the shop frontage and to change the site into a drinking establishment.
