A MORNING police raid led to several arrests and a gun being found, as well as the seizure of drugs and stolen property, including a car and a quad bike.

Officers South Worcestershire and Evesham Safer Neighbourhood Team made three arrests while executing the warrant in Cleeve Prior on Wednesday morning.

Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding, supporting the raid, which was part of West Mercia Police’s Operation Protect, said he hoped it “sends a clear message” to criminals.

Speaking at the scene, he said the warrant was very successful and confirmed three men had been arrested “for offences ranging from drug supply to committing burglaries and thefts.”

“We hope that this operation and our continued efforts to deter or catch perpetrators sends a clear message that we are looking into all crime reported,” he added.

The inspector said officers were due to remain on site for the rest of the day while further warrants were planned in the local area.

“If you see officers, please engage, talk to them, tell us of your concerns and we will keep you updated,” he said.

Protect comprises four key areas of activity: pursue, prevent, protect and prepare – and works closely with partner agencies.

Local Policing Priority Teams (LPPTs) have been established to target problems specific to communities, whether it’s relating to drugs, burglary, modern day slavery, economic crime or fraud.

DCI Harding said: “Organised crime will not be tolerated in Evesham.

“With the help of our new team we will not stop tackling local priorities such as serious organised crime ruining local people’s lives,” he added. The scheme promises to pursue and disrupt criminals.
