A SWAN was rescued after flying into a bridge.

The swan flew into the bridge on Abbey Road, Evesham yesterday, but is now recovering at Wychbold Swan Rescue.

The fire brigade were called and they took the swan back to the fire station. Members of the Swan Rescue went to pick it up and took it back to their centre. The swan has suffered an injury to its right leg.

John Stuart from Wychbold Swan Rescue said: "It flew over with one or two others and instead of landing in the river it flew into the bridge."

Mr Stuart thanked the fire brigade for their assistance.

Wychbold Swan Rescue is a registered charity for the care and treatment of sick and injured swans and water birds, assisted by vetinary support.
