A WORKING group with authority from the Parochial Church Council of Rous Lench has been set up to create a Heritage Centre for the wider Lenches area.

The centre will serve Harvington, Flyford Flavell, Abbots Morton, Lenchwick, Inkberrow and Bishampton. St. Peter’s Church in Rous Lench will be the setting. The proposal is to develop a centre for education and learning that engages all visitors with the landscape, social history, culture, and heritage of the area.

The group, The Heritage Centre Working Party are proposing to apply for a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2019 to carry out much needed repairs to the church and create a Heritage Centre containing displays and interactive media specifically aimed at telling the stories of those working and living in the area.

Zoe Durrant said: "We believe the future of the heritage and assets of the area are better preserved through a collaborative approach"

"The history of the villages is quite distinct from the local towns as for many centuries they were relatively isolated communities."

The party are looking for enthusiastic people with a range of skills. They are also looking for people with local knowledge.
