A DRUG driver has been jailed for eight months after admitting dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop.

Aaron Biddle, of St Philips Drive, Evesham appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, 1 May, for sentencing having previously pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs and failing to stop for police.

He was sentenced to eight months in prison for dangerous driving and four months in prison for driving under the influence of drugs, with both sentences to run concurrently.

The 28-year-old was also disqualified from driving for 12 months upon his release from prison and ordered to take an extended test at the end of his disqualification period.

It comes after Biddle failed to stop for officers from the Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) who witnessed him driving in a dangerous manner on Charity Crescent, Evesham, on the evening of Sunday, 19 November 2018.

PC Tom Fletcher from West Mercia Police said: "We are committed to improving road safety to ensure that every effort is made to bring offenders to justice.

"This incident had the potential to have devastating consequences had Biddle collided with another vehicle so we hope this sentence serves as a warning to others to drive safely at all times.

"We will not tolerate dangerous driving on our roads, particularly those driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol."

A second man was also convicted in connection with this incident.

Jack Taylor, 24, of Burlingham Avenue, Evesham, was convicted of driving under the influence of drugs and driving without insurance at Worcester Magistrates Court on 7 March.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of £276, costs to the total of £135 and a victim surcharge of £30.
