THERE was plenty of magic and wonder in Pershore on Bank Holiday Monday as the town's annual carnival returned with a fairytale theme.

Crowds flocked to the Abbey Park for stalls, games and food, including Kick & Stick and ferret racing, while the carnival procession saw floats from the likes of Cherry Orchard First School and Pershore Rugby Club.

The Carnival King for 2019 was Sam Mardle, aged 10, of Holy Redeemer School, who was also king last year, while the Carnival Queen was Bella Bromilow, aged eight, of Cherry Orchard.

Things got going in the morning with the farmer's market and the funfair, overlooked by Pershore Abbey.

A dog show proceeded the carnival procession at 1pm before arena events hosted by James Locke kicked off from around 2.20pm.

Local club demonstrations included those by Simple Street Defence, Pershore Tennis Club, Pershore Rugby Club and South Worcestershire Lifeguards.
