A WELL known couple who ran a tea room celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Edward and Teresa Jarrett married on June 20, 1959 and ran Corners Tea Room and Gardens in Broadway.
Mr Jarrett said: "I was in the Met police. We were invited to a social at Brompton Hospital. My wife was a nurse, that is where we met. It continued from there."
Mr Jarrett said: "It was love at first sight."
They married at St. Simon's Catholic Church, Putney, London. Their wedding cake was made by Mr Jarrett's father who was a baker in Broadway. The couple spent their honeymoon in Cornwall.
After retiring from policing and nursing, the couple moved to Broadway and opened the tea room which they ran for 26 years.
They enjoy travelling and travelled around the world.
Their children are Sharon, Rodena and Paul. Sharon and Rodena live in Australia.They have thirteen grand children and three great grand children, and another on the way.
Mr Jarrett is from Broadway and Mrs Jarrett was born in County Donegal, Ireland.
