A TEAM of mums climbed Snowdon for a friend who died after a battle with lung cancer.

Team member Alice, from Evesham said: "We did the Snowdon sunset climb - a climb at dusk, seeing the sunset on the summit, and then descending in the dark.

We tackled Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales, just under 10-miles and 970m of ascent) to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. When Lucy Payne was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer a year ago, she had a bucket list of things to do and one was to climb Snowdon."

Lucy found out last February that she had a specific type known as ALK+.

Sadly Lucy died two days before the team were due to climb.

Alice said: "We'd love to raise more money for Lucy's chosen charity - The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, because anyone who has lungs can get lung cancer."

The figure raised on justgiving is

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only UK charity wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer. Lung cancer is the UK's biggest cancer killer. It kills more people than breast, colo-rectal and prostate cancer combined yet receives only 6% of research funding.
