THE annual VJ Parade took place in Evesham on Thursday, August 15.
Mid-Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston, chairman of Wychavon District Council, Frances Smith Town, and Town Mayor Mark Googe, were among the veterans from the three armed forces and presently serving members who attended the parade outside the Almonry Museum.
The service commemorated Victory over Japan; and is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered in World War Two, in effect bringing the war to an end.
The parade was officiated over by Lt. Col (Rtd) Mark Jackson OBE, President of the Worcester Branch, WFRA, and the service was conducted by Andy Green, Chaplain to the Evesham Branch of the British Legion.
The last post and reveille was played on trumpet by Sue Sollis, MBE.
