A MUM is angry after a school uniform shop did not supply her sons new uniform on time for the new term, however the shop owner has defended himself saying they try to get all items ready in time.

Heidi Phillipps had ordered a new jumper and polo t-shirt with logos for her 9-year-old son Oliver who attends Sedgeberrow C of E First School. She said she had been ringing them the week before term to find out if her order was ready to collect. She finally got through on Friday to find it still was not in but was told it would be in on the Saturday.

"I went in Saturday and there was nothing. I got home and had a call to say actually one item is in and other item will be in Monday. We left it till late afternoon to give them chance to un-pack any orders and went in, but no, nothing for us and they said definitely tomorrow, Tuesday, but that’s the day he went back to school."

Mrs Phillipps sent her older son to the shop on the Tuesday that Oliver's term started to collect Oliver's new uniform, but it still was not there.

Other parents have made comments on social media that they have had similar issues.

"This is the 3rd year running my youngest has had to go back without crisp new logo uniform. And my eldest without a tie."

"The town keeps growing and growing. They just keep sticking houses up and they don't have the school shops to cope with it all."

David Bragg, owner of the school shop said: "We are an independent business and we have been doing this for 11 years. We are passionate about the local area. We stand in front of our customers every day and face these issues, and hopefully, resolve them."

"So much depends on when people order. The schools we serve have got about 6500 pupils. That is a lot to get through in a six week period. The vast majority of those orders go out on time. If they are ordered in the last week of term, inevitably with all shops, you run out of stock and you have to get more in. With a school shop, you try to keep stock in all year round, but if there is a massive rush towards the end of the holidays, it is very difficult to get all the new stock in."

"Like all humans and processes, occasionally things go wrong, but we try to make amends. We are a genuine local business trying to get everyone to school on time looking their best. It is a really positive business."
