ON Friday, October 11 the Friends of St Thomas a Becket Church are delighted to present their next event, a talk by Kate Speke-Adams from the Wye and Usk Foundation.

Kate heads up a team of catchment advisers at the foundation, a charitable rivers trust that delivers a broad range of projects to benefit our rivers. The work of Kate's team seeks to reduce diffuse pollution arising from agriculture throughout the catchment.

Kate's talk will explain the broad range of work undertaken by the Wye and Usk Foundation and describe how the foundation seeks to address specific pressures that include access to spawning grounds for migratory fish, habitat conditions and the water quality and quantity of the Wye.

Kate grew up on a dairy farm in North Herefordshire, this, combined with experience gained from working for the Environment Agency, gives her a well balanced view on the risks and opportunities that agriculture can offer the water environment.

Wine and canapés will be served after the event which will be held in Huntington Village Hall, near Kington at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and are available at huntingtonchurch.co.uk
