FOR THE first time Bromyard will host a street market at the town's Christmas lights switch-on in November.

On November 23 along Broad Street and High Street there will be hot chestnuts seller, seasonal foods and Christmas goods ahead of the switch-on at 5pm.

Christmas lights committee member David Grant said: "It's the culmination of six long Sundays by the Bromyard Light Brigade, who were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Services back in 2011.

"They work from dawn until dusk erecting an amazing array of lights, many of which are unique to Bromyard. New pieces are designed and built by the team through the year in preparation."

There will be a lantern parade on the day as local schools, youth clubs and families join a parade prior to community carol singing prior to the switch on.

Local businessman Brian Johnson will flick the switch, and Mr Grant added his generous contributions for many years has benefitted the town in multiple ways.
