Pershore Choral Society is marking its 70th anniversary by performing Handel’s “Messiah”, extracts of which it performed during its inaugural year back in 1949.

The choir will be singing the whole of the magnificent choral work at a sell-out concert in Pershore Abbey on Saturday, December 14, starting at 7.30pm.

“There are lots of exciting things happening during the coming months and we are particularly looking forward to performing the Messiah,” said Ron Haden, Pershore Choral’s chairman.

“There could not be a better way to launch our celebratory year. Our concerts are proving popular not just with audiences, but also with people who want to sing with us.”

Other events during the coming 12 months include the performance of Brahms’ Requiem and a special anniversary party in May.

Full details are available on the choir’s website which has been redesigned, rebranded and given a new logo to celebrate the anniversary.
