A CHIRK historian will deliver a talk at the next Wrexham Area Civic Society meeting will be held at the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham on Thursday, February 20.
The programme of events meeting will commence at 7pm – and will consist of a presentation by Graham Greasley, titled ‘Chirk Pals’ – which will consider the ‘Band of Brothers’ type of recruitment for military service to the Royal Welch Fusiliers at the commencement of the First World War.
Mr Greasley – a member of the Chirk Historical Society – will be making a return to the Civic Society.
He has previously produced a book, alongside Deryn Poppitt, titled ‘Chirk Pals’ which looks at the history of the First World War in Chirk and surrounding areas.
He gives conducted tours of Chirk and of the Dee and Ceiriog Valley areas – as well as writing about its history.
