ANOTHER nomination has come in for this year's Worcestershire Education Awards, this time for a previous winner.

Discover History, which won the Community Involvement Award in 2017, provides educational workshops and activity days, has once again received a nomination, with founder Helen Harding being nominated for Unsung Hero.

The nomination describes Mrs Harding's "contagious enthusiasm" saying: "Behind the scenes Helen has worked extremely hard. She is an Unsung Hero on many counts.

"Not only does she work on the boring admin out of sight, but she works enthusiastically in schools bringing history to life in a fun and interactive way.

"The enthusiasm is contagious, to the point even those children who struggle, still manage to learn.

"When Discover History started, Helen planned the workshops and ensured they linked to the national curriculum that the schools were using.

"Helen was taken seriously Ill in December, but still battled on until a hospital admission forced a halt.

"If Helen was nominated, short listed or even won the Unsung hero award, she would be over the moon.

"She deserves to be the face of Discover History."

Discover History was set up in 2003 by Paul and Helen Harding. The two not only carry out visits, they also run a series of history clubs for all ages.

The Worcestershire Education Awards, run jointly between Worcester University and the Worcester News, celebrates excellence in teaching and training across the county.

The deadline for award nominations is April 18.

Finalists are chosen by a panel of judges and winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at the University Arena in Worcester on June 20.
