BUDDING crafters in Whitchurch have been flexing their creative muscles at a half-term event at the library.

The aim of the crafting event was to create ‘funky fish’, with children decorating paper plates in the style of their favourite aquatic creatures.

Crafters created plenty of outstanding designs, with the ‘funky fish’ created at the event, with library assistant Judith Roberts then placing the art onto the library’s Under the Sea display.

Whitchurch Library, based in the Civic Centre, regularly run events for children throughout the year.

The next event to feature will be a rhyme time event , for children under five years old.

Parents and children who attend the event will be able to enjoy songs, rhymes, rhythm and fun, with the session taking place on Thursday, February 27, from 10am.

And next month, local children’s author AV Turner will be at the library for a book signing and craft session.

Children who attend will be able to hear readings from her popular Harris the Hedgehog series, which she both writes and illustrates herself.

Afterwards children will be able to get creative with a craft session and signed copies of AV Turner’s books will be available to buy on the day.

The library is also part of the national Reading Well campaign, which promotes positive mental health in children, through reading, with the books all recommended by health experts.
