A PLAN to build more than 40 homes on the edge of Pinvin has been put forward.

Hamelin Partnerships on behalf of Rooftop Housing wants to build 33 affordable homes in land between North End and Amajen House off Upton Snodsbury Road in Pinvin near Pershore

A mix of four one-bed flats, three one-bed bungalows, a two-bed bungalow, 17 two-bed homes and 17 three-bed homes would be built. Just over 40 per cent of the homes would be offered as shared ownership.

A total of 81 car parking spaces across the site would also be provided.

The land lies outside but next to the adopted Pinvin development boundary in the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP).

The land is bounded to the south and east by existing homes with pastureland surrounding the rest of the site.

The homes would be served by Pinvin CE First and Pinvin Middle School which is within an eight-minute walk of the proposed homes.

Around 53 more affordable homes are currently needed in the area, according to figures for affordable housing need in Pinvin and surrounding areas provided by Wychavon District Council.

As many as 81 affordable homes would need to be built by 2022 to meet demand, according to the same council data.

A statement included in the application said: The proposed development would be located on the edge of a sustainable village and in very close proximity to the main town of Pershore and would have very good access to a wide range of local services and facilities and a choice of means of transport modes.

"Whilst the application site lies outside of the defined development boundary for Pinvin, the site is not considered to be isolated and is very much part of the village where there is existing development.

"The proposal would facilitate the delivery of genuine affordable housing in a district where there is an existing and historic unmet need derived through a persistent undersupply of this type of housing."

The plans can be viewed via the planning section of Wychavon District Council’s website.

Consultation ends on April 25. The application number is 20/00585/FUL.
