A TOTAL of 115 coronavirus patients have now died in Hampshire hospitals.

The latest figures show that University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Southampton General Hospital, has recorded 26 deaths.

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Queen Alexandra Hospital Cosham, has seen 63 deaths.

A total of 26 deaths have been recorded by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Alton Community Hospital.

The figures do not specify which hospital or hospitals the deaths occurred in.

Yesterday it was revealed that 809 people in Hampshire have tested positive for Covid-19 - up by 110 on the figure released the previous day.

Southampton has also seen a rise.

According to Public Health England the number of coronavirus cases in the city now stands at 145 - an increase of 40 on Friday's figure.

As of 9am yesterday a total of 41,903 people across the UK have tested positive for coronavirus. As of 5pm Friday 4,313 people have died after being diagnosed with the disease.

The figures are due to be updated later today.
