LATEST NHS figures show there have been another three deaths at Worcestershire hospitals from coronavirus, bringing the total number of county deaths announced to 52.

The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the deaths on March 8, and a spokesman said: “Worcestershire Acute Hospitals is currently treating patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

“Sadly, we can confirm that 48 patients who were being cared for at our hospitals, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Two of those have been announced today (Wednesday 8 April)

“The patients whose deaths have been announced so far were aged between 54 and 98.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time.”

There has another been another death announced by the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust- bring its total to four in today.

The figures released show the total deaths for the 24 hours up to 5pm on April 7, with a further 828 people who tested positive for coronavirus dying in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 6,483.

Patients were aged between 22 and 103 years old. 46 of the 828 patients (aged between 35 and 96 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust covers the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital. The health and care NHS trust covers community hospitals and rehabilitation wards, including Worcester City Impatient Unit, Malvern Community Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital, Pershore Community Hospital, the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, Tenbury Community Hospital and the Wye Forest Ward.
