VULNERABLE residents are being cared for by the Worcestershire County Councils Here2Help campaign.

One of the people who has really benefitted from the support offered is ‘Albert’.

Albert is one of the most vulnerable people in Worcestershire. He is currently unable to leave his home, and is one of the shielded group, who are being encouraged to remain isolated for 12 weeks to protect his health.

His daughter ‘Clare’, recently had an operation and is currently unable to visit him to provide him with food, medicine or any help.

Albert contacted the Council’s community support service Here2help, and the council’s teams identified him as needing urgent help and support.

A volunteer was then able to collect Albert’s prescription for him and a few bits of shopping too. The County Council also sent him a box of emergency food supplies, delivered to him by council staff.

Clare contacted the Council to say how grateful she was that her father was being cared for. She said: “I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my dad. I filled in this form for him last week and I have been blown away by the help he has received.

"My dad was absolutely gobsmacked by what he received he said he’s got enough food to last a month. Dad has even kindly donated some of it to his elderly neighbours.

"I honestly can’t thank you enough for helping my dad as I am unable to get to him following surgery.”

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Communities, said: “It’s wonderful to hear how one family have really benefitted from the Here 2 Help campaign, a small gesture sometimes really can make the biggest difference.

"We’ve been really proud of the response we’ve had and continue to have to this campaign, and hearing these little successes and how we’re helping to ease the stresses for as many as we can makes it all worthwhile.”

Anyone needing help can log on to www.worcestershire.gov.uk/here2help or call 01905 768053.

The phone line is open seven days a week between 8am and 8pm.
