HEALTH Secretary Matt Hancock announced that the government had met its target to carry out 100,000 coronavirus tests a day by the end of April, at the latest daily press conference yesterday.
Mr Hancock said 122,347 tests were performed in the 24 hours up to 9am on Friday.

Paying tribute to staff, Mr Hancock said: “Testing is crucial, it will help to unlock the lockdown. So many people have died, but we are making progress.”
It had appeared the government was set to fail after the Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said it was a ‘probable’ outcome.
