MORE than 400 Worcestershire residents - with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate - had died in all settings up to early May, according to latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) data.

The latest ONS figures have begun to reveal the growing number of people who died outside of hospital.

The figures cover people who died from Covid-19 and the local authority area in which they lived.

The latest data, covering the week May 1 and May 8, show:

● 20 people died in hospital; seven from Bromsgrove, five from Wychavon, four Redditch residents, two Malvern Hills residents and two from Wyre Forest. No one from Worcester died in hospital that week, according to the data.

● 19 people died in a care home; seven from Wyre Forest, four Worcester residents, three from Bromsgrove, two from Wychavon, two Malvern Hills residents and one Redditch resident.

● Three people died at home, one from Worcester, one Wychavon resident and one from Wyre Forest.

● One person from Bromsgrove died at a place listed as ‘elsewhere.’

Some of the deaths are ones previously not reported on, as the daily regional figure released by the NHS is only people dying of Covid-19 at county hospitals, including community hospitals.
