POLICE have confirmed a body found in the river near Pershore is that of missing man Thomas Surber.

Mr Surber, who was 71, went missing from his home in Bricklehampton, near Pershore on February 27.

Detective inspector Ed Slough thanked the public for helping with the search.

He said: "We are sad to report that Thomas was found on Sunday 17 May and has now been formally identified.

"His wife has been informed and specially trained officers are supporting her at this tragic time.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public who shared our appeals and helped in our search for Thomas."

Mr Surber's death is not being treated as suspicious.
