TWO litter-heroes from Malpas have been making sure the streets remain tidy, despite the ongoing lockdown.

The coronavirus-enforced lockdown has meant that usual maintenance of streets has dropped off, so two volunteers have taken it upon themselves to fill the void.

Jeannie Chantler and Mary Brown have been tidying up Old Hall Street, filling six bags of rubbish in the process.

Rachel Williams, Cheshire West and Chester Councillor for Malpas, praised the volunteers efforts.

"Two residents of Malpas who had both had enough of the mounting litter during lock down on old hall street decided they wanted to do some thing about it," said Rachel

"Taking the litter picker by the handle they set to the task in hand and six bags of rubbish later the area was left looking much more presentable.

"Jeannie and Mary have both set a shining example of positive community spirit and I would like to say thank you to them both."
