HEAVY traffic and delays are expected on the M5 today as the clean-up continues following a crash yesterday.

One lane has been closed both ways between J7 and J8 for emergency repairs with lane three expected to remain closed for most of Thursday.

This is following yesterday's accident, which saw the road closed southbound overnight for resurfacing.

Four casualties were treated at the scene although nobody was seriously hurt.

The four people involved in the crash were treated by West Midlands Ambulance Service at the scene.

A lorry is thought to have jackknifed and pushed two other vehicles through the central barriers on to the other side of the motorway.

All three emergency services attended the crash at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesman for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 2.16pm three crews attended a road traffic collision involving an articulated lorry and two cars on the M5 Southbound, junction 7 to 8.

"A fuel leak from the HGV was contained and four casualties were checked by paramedics."
