NINE new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Herefordshire, the latest official daily figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 886 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Saturday (August 1) in Herefordshire, nine more than at the same time on Friday.

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests - those carried out by commercial partners - alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those who have died.

It comes as the coronavirus death toll at the Wye Valley NHS Trust remains at 57 as of 4pm Friday, with the most recent death occurring on July 15.

Updated - Figures remain the same at 4.26pm Sunday, August 2.
