FOUR areas in the town have seen three or more new coronavirus cases recorded in the last week, new figures have shown.

Four cases were recorded in North Malvern in the last seven days of available data whilst three cases were recorded in Malvern Link, four cases were recorded in Barnard’s Green and a further three cases were recorded in Malvern Wells and Priory.

The latest data published by Public Health England shows which areas in Malvern Hills have recorded three new cases or more in the week between September 6 and September 12.

A further three cases were recorded in Upton, Welland and Eldersfield.

Eight cases were recorded in North Malvern and a further three were recorded in Malvern Link and Malvern Wells between September 3 and September 9, according to the data.

Three cases were recorded in Upton, Welland and Eldersfield in the same period.

A total of 13 cases were recorded in Malvern Hills between August 31 and September 6 in two different areas.

Ten cases were recorded in North Malvern and three cases were recorded in Malvern Link.

The figures are split into several ‘middle super output areas’ – which is used by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) – zones that are slightly larger than postcode areas with an average population of around 7,200 people.

Areas with fewer than two cases are not highlighted.

Malvern Hills had not seen any areas highlighted as recording three or more cases between June 29 and August 30.

Four cases were recorded in Broadheath, Sinton and Alfrick between June 22 and June 28 – the first area to record three or more cases in three weeks.

The number of cases was at its height in mid-April in Malvern Hills when 32 cases were recorded between April 13 and April 19.

Between March 30 and April 26, 98 cases were recorded across Malvern Hills.

Elsewhere in the county, two areas in Worcester recorded having three or more positive coronavirus cases in the last week.

Three cases were recorded in the city’s Barbourne and Rainbow Hill areas and a further three positive cases were recorded in Ronkswood and Nunnery Wood.

Three cases were recorded in Dines Green and St John’s and a further three were recorded in Worcester Town North – which includes most of the city centre, Arboretum and Barbourne - between August 30 and September 5.

A total of 2,836 confirmed cases have been recorded in Worcestershire, according to latest figures by Public Health England.

Of those cases, 463 have been recorded in Worcester, 286 in Malvern Hills and 522 in Wychavon.

No coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in any of Worcestershire’s hospitals on September 16, according to the latest data made available by NHS England.

A total of 530 people have died from coronavirus across ‘all settings’ - which includes care homes, hospices and communal establishments - of which 307 people died in the county’s hospitals.

The total number of deaths recorded by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust remains at 279 deaths with the number of deaths recorded by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has stayed at 28.
