POLICE are recovering an overturned tanker and clearing debris from the motorway after a crash.
The crash happened on the M5 northbound between junctions 6 (Worcester north) and 7 (Worcester south).
Traffic is now flowing both northbound and southbound, though though the third lane remains closed both ways for barrier repairs.
The tanker, as seen in the photos, went through the central reservation and is causing significant tailbacks.
There is a fuel spillage and debris on the road.
Police have warned drivers to avoid the area if possible as there are "significant delays" approaching the closures in both directions.
Emergency services including West Mercia Police and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.
Highways England traffic officers are also on scene, providing assistance with traffic management.
There is a significant amount of barrier damage at scene.
The tanker was transporting flammable liquids, and an exclusion zone is in place for safety reasons.
***Update*** Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) have reopened on the #M5 Northbound J7 #WorcesterNorth and J6 #WorcesterSouth. Lane 3 remains closed for emergency barrier repairs.
