TWO Worcester schools have sent people home after individuals tested positive for Coronavirus.

A member of staff from Northwick Manor Primary School tested positive for the Covid-19 last week.

The member of staff who tested positive and another member of staff have had to isolate because they had face-to-face contact. However, no children were required to stay at home.

Sian Williams , headteacher at the Northwick school, said: “We have followed the advice of Public Health England and following their review of the single case incident, they advised that only the member of staff who tested positive and another member of staff has had to isolate because of face-to-face contact. No children were affected by this, thankfully.”

Stanley Road Primary School also sent pupils home after a member of staff tested positive for the virus. Pupils from the Key Stage 1 bubble - which covers three year groups - and some staff have been sent home and told to isolate.

Headteacher David Brownsword said: “I can confirm that the KS1 bubble and some staff have been sent home due to a positive coronavirus test result in our school community. We all wish the person affected a speedy recovery and a return to good health.”

Parents of the children who have been in close contact with the individual who tested positive have received a letter informing them that their child must isolate at home for two weeks. The school remains open and has said other children should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

Mr Brownsword wrote to parents and said: “We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.”
