What vehicles do you own?
A 1986 MK4 Ford Escort 1.3 Popular, powered by 2.1 Zetec. A 1990 XR3i convertible in black, a 1900 MK4 Ford Escort Chairman Camper, a 2002 Ford Fiesta 1.25. I am crew chief for Darlington’s own 1968 MK2 Ford Cortina drag car, the fastest MK2 Ford Cortina in Great Britain.

Why did you decide to buy these particular vehicles?
They are the ones I always wanted as a teenager.

What do you mainly use them for, and do you take them to shows or events?
I use some daily, some for racing and some for shows.

What does your family think about your passion for vehicles?
They think I am nuts, but my wife loves it, so that’s all that matters.

What was your first vehicle and why did you buy it?
A Y reg Volvo 345DL. I bought it because it was cheap.

What is your dream vehicle and why?
A Ford Escort 1700T and a1985 Lamborghini Countach LP500, because it’s the “poster boy” of the 1980s.

Would you ever go electric and why?
No.

What do you think a car says about its driver?
If you have a new car, you are trying to work out who you are. If you have an old car, you know who you are.

What’s your favourite road to drive on and why?
The Stang pass –it’s a beautiful road, with beautiful cars. It goes back to feeling young again.
