TERRIFYING video footage of powerful fireworks exploding yards away from a group of young people and passing cars has been shared on social media.
CCTV of the shocking incident shows three young men on a street corner running before a huge explosion in a junction, seconds after motorists drive by.
The footage was captured just after 9pm on Saturday night in the Dyke House area of Hartlepool.
A spokesperson for Hartlepool News and Alerts said: “Luckily no-one was injured on this occasion but had there been someone on the crossing or the firework stopped under the car it could have been a lot worse.
“So once again may we take this opportunity to kindly request that you educate your children around the dangers of fireworks.
“You can find full safety information by visiting www.rospa.com regarding the proper use of fireworks.
“Police have been informed and this CCTV and others will be passed onto them.”
Cleveland Police has been contacted for comment.
