THERE have been more than 2,500 new coronavirus cases recorded in the North-East and North Yorkshire over the weekend.
On Sunday, the total daily cases announced across the UK was 19,790
A further 151 deaths were recorded within 28 days of a positive test, bringing the total to 44,896.
No deaths were reported yesterday at any of the region’s hospitals.
Here is a breakdown of the latest confirmed cases in the region:
County Durham: 10,613 was 10,217, an increase of 396 since Friday
Darlington: 1,801 was 1,695 an increase of 106 since Friday
Gateshead: 4,309 was 4,093, an increase of 216 since Friday
Hartlepool: 2,035 was 1958, an increase of 77 since Friday
Middlesbrough: 3,149 was 3023 an increase of 126 since Friday
Newcastle: 8,039 was 7780, an increase of 259 since Friday
North Tyneside: 3,581 was 3409, an increase of 172 since Friday
North Yorkshire: 6,873 was 6619, an increase of 254 since Friday
Northumberland: 4,802 was 4626, an increase of 176 since Friday
Redcar and Cleveland: 2,206 was 2117, an increase of 89 since Friday
South Tyneside: 3,336 was 3257, an increase of 79 since Friday
Stockton: 3,967 was 3733, an increase of 234 since Friday
Sunderland: 6,544 was 6276, an increase of 268 since Friday
York: 3,314 was 3191, an increase of 123 since Friday
Total: 2,575 more cases since Friday
