RESIDENTS of Waterside are worried about the 'considerable disruption' that could be caused if permission is given to build two more storeys onto a building.

Julie Roome of Pippins Court at 40 Waterside Evesham said: "We have many concerns such as the appearance of the altered buildings, provision of parking and the considerable disruption to our lives during the building process."

The property is a small development of 13 flats in 2 buildings overlooking the River and Crown Meadow. The proposal is to build two extra storeys onto each building creating 10 additional flats.

Ms Roome said: "We understand the government is very keen to supply extra homes but these would be one bed flats and small two bed flats and not suitable for families."

Ms Roome says residents have spoken to local councillors about the issue.

Two neighbours have objected to the planning application. One resident said they are worried about the "mental health and well being" of residents while the flats are being built.

Another neighbour said: "I believe it will over develop the plot. It will not fit it in with surrounding area, I believe it will not look appealing. It will create more shade. It will effect the conservation area to the rear. It will effect our privacy and be more intrusive to our neighbouring property. Evesham Waterside is a beautiful addition to Evesham and I am amazed the original development was allowed to be constructed in its current materials. To increase its size would be a shame as it would highlight the building's awkwardness."

The final date for responses is November 11. The planning application can be found online at wychavon.gov.uk
