A NINE-YEAR-OLD who has gone out of her way to help her community, in and out of lockdown, has been nominated for our Bouquet of the Week.

Daisy Simpson, of Darlington, has been in the news in the past few months after she organised shopping and delivery during lockdown for her neighbours, and then more recently organised a fundraising campaign to buy food worth more than £1,000 to distribute to families in need.

Daisy was nominated by Darlington resident Susan Case. Susan said: “During lockdown at the start of the year, Daisy and her football team did shopping for people and delivered food parcels. She was really keen to help people in the community who were more vulnerable.

“Recently she, along with her mother, has been raising money to buy food for food bags for families who need some help.

“Daisy is such a kind and caring little girl and has been thinking only of other people during lockdown, and anything she has she wants to share with others. She has done so much and so deserves to be recognised for everything she has done. She really has been making a difference to people’s lives.”
