FORMER parliamentary candidate Helen Russell is among three Labour candidates standing for Worcestershire County Council seats next year.

Ms Russell, pictured, will fight for Evesham North and West seat with Badsey-based Mary Campbell hoping to be elected in the Littletons and Anthony Kelly selected to contest Droitwich West in elections taking place in May 2021.

Evesham resident Ms Russell, who works as a trade union training officer for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, said: “Worcestershire County Council needs a new start and an injection of fresh ideas. I would be truly honoured to be a councillor in the town I call home.”

Mary Campbell has lived in the area for 20 years and runs a business in Blackminster.

The former chair of the Badsey and Aldington Parish Council has also has been a keen fundraiser for the NHS, initiating Evesham Hospital Supporters and sees adequate health services in Evesham as a priority.

“I am not afraid to speak out to support local services and residents and will encourage community participation in all important decisions,” she said.

Dr Kelly is very well known as a doctor in Droitwich and has chaired local and countywide groups as well as sitting on regional and national medical delivery boards.

He is Clinical Commissioning Director for mental health and wellbeing services across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

He said: “These elections are an opportunity to ensure further collaboration and cooperation in delivering the NHS’s health, wellbeing and other services.”
