THE trial of a man accused of an assault in a Worcester bar continues today after the alleged attacker appeared in the witness box yesterday, telling a jury he felt 'fear' during the incident.
Jake Toriyen said he was motivated by ‘fear and anxiety’ not anger when he punched Paul Monnes in Alexander’s in New Street, Worcester. He also said he wanted to apologise 'face-to-face' to the man he punched and said there was 'no anger there at all, there was fear' when he threw the punches.

The 21-year-old denies assault occasioning bodily harm at his trial at Worcester Crown Court which began yesterday, claiming he acted in self-defence after the complainant bumped into him.
The defendant, who was a Worcester student at the time, threw punches, connecting with an uppercut which knocked Mr Monnes unconscious on March 17 last year.
