THE online ‘switch-on’ of the Evesham Rotary 2020 Tree of Light will take place today.

Supporters have been asked to watch the video showing the tree for remembering loved ones lit up, from 6.30pm on the Evesham Rorary website, Facebook and YouTube.

This year’s Tree of Light Campaign will continue to run for two weeks. Anyone who wants to remember a loved one and donate to charity can use the form printed here or go to Evesham Rotary website therotaryclubofevesham.org.uk

A spokesman said: “It is hoped that next year we will all be back on Waterside, but this is a great alternative that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own homes. The tree itself will be illuminated through to January 6 2021. This is a prominent reminder of the hundreds of loved ones remembered at this time of year.”

He added: “We are pleased that donations are almost at the same level as in previous years and we are now looking for charities who, in these difficult times, are most in need of support. Charities are invited to contact us on 07764 528 044 to provide details.”

The names of people remembered will be published in the Evesham Journal, on the Rotary club’s website and in a Tree of Light Book of Remembrance held at the town library.
