WHO is your young lockdown hero?

Worcester Lions, being supported by the Worcester News, have now launched their Young Lockdown Hero of 2020 competition.

The club, that has helped numerous organisations and good causes around the city for more than 50 years, has organised the competition as it felt other organisations have done lockdown hero competitions, but the younger generation had been missed out.

People are now being asked to nominate anyone, under the age of 18, who has done exceptional things for their community this year.

The winner will be picked by a panel with representatives from the club, the Worcester News, and Youthcomm Radio, and announced on Christmas Eve.

Helen Digger, from the Worcester Lions, said the person could have carried out their work in either of the lockdowns.

Mrs Digger said: “We will have people nominate a young lockdown hero, whether it is this (latest) lockdown or the last.

"They will receive a certificate. It is all about highlighting the wonderful work young people in Worcestershire have been doing.”

To nominate send a private message at Worcester Lions Facebook group, or email hello@worcesterlions.org.uk.

Meanwhile the club’s virtual alternative to the Santa’s traditional tour around Worcester streets is continuing to prove popular.

Santa Zoom offers city children the change to have a virtual chat with Father Christmas, and are sent an e-card at the end.

The club says zoom links have been sent out to those who have previously applied and returned a form to them to take part.

Anyone who hasn’t returned their form is asked to send it as soon as possible, so a session can be arranged.

And the club also has some slots available for anyone who wants to take part in the free event, by emailing santa@worcesterlionsclub.org.uk.
