PUPILS at Eckington First School have been enjoying the open air on their new Fitness Trim Trail.

The Friends of Eckington First School (PTA) announced the completion of the trail, backed by the National Lottery Community Fund, which is aimed at promoting fitness and physical and mental well-being for children in the school and the local community.

A PTA spokesman said: "At a time when many opportunities for our children are on hold it is wonderful to see them enjoying our new facilities.

"Due to current restrictions it is presently only available to pupils at the school on rotation in their bubbles, hopes are that, as restrictions are eased, it will be shared with other community groups, the Parent and Toddler group, and the local Brownies."

Treasurer Paula Aston said: "We are extremely grateful for the funding provided that allows the children to have a more varied playtime to enhance their learning environment.

"Once restrictions are lifted we are sure that it will be utilised greatly by other village organisations."
