MORE car parking spaces will soon be available at weekends in Pershore.
The library car park on Priest Lane Pershore will be available on a pay-and-display basis on Saturdays and Sundays following approval instigated by Wychavon District Council.
Councillor Charles Tucker said: “Liberal Democrats have called for this since the car park was built and given over to the NHS.
"It has always seemed a nonsense that the public could not use a car park that stood empty for large parts of the week and at weekends.”
“It's great news that Wychavon has persuaded the NHS to revise their licence to allow the public to use it at weekends.”
The decision will take 12 weeks to implement before public parking can start owing to the need to amend Wychavon's Off-street Parking Places Order.
Cllr Tucker's endorsement has been supported by fellow Lib Dems in Pershore, Councillors Dan Boatright and Carolyn Harford.
